How to Conduct a Retail Rate Analysis of Batteries and Solar

This is an efficient tool for performing an evaluation of the market structure of electricity and battery prices.

Description
This Excel template is an effective tool for analysing consumer rates of pay of batteries for electricity.

This tool can be used to examine the rates that electricity bills are retailed at, and the factors that affect the price. This is a great tool for consumers to test the market and also reveal a level of transparency in how the market operates. The level of demand and storage analysis are used to measure how demand charges vary when batteries are used. The template also includes (for the lifetime of a solar project):

- day-by-day load
- day-by-day solar energy
- financial effects of battery replacement
- retail rate analysis

This retail rate analysis examines different loads and solar patterns over a time period with the following: various assumed (i) retail rate costs, (ii) solar costs, (iii) battery characteristics, (iv) hourly demand irradiation, and (v) hourly solar irradiation, over the month.

The model allows the user to easily make alterations between the periods of time that they would like to conduct the analysis – efficiently changing between a week, a month, or a year.

The accompanying PDF illustrates how to select the variables and how to update the file as to how the user desires.
