Recruiting Guide for Early Stage Company Boards

An excel sheet that allows you to set out the key recruiting criteria needed for choosing new board members

Description
A board for an early stage company usually consists of 3 or 5 members. It is fairly common for one or two of the seats to be unfilled when a company raises an early round of funding. However, it is important to fill these seats. It is also important to have a variety of skills on your board so it can be tempting to take your time when choosing a board. It is advised to be as quick as possible and to fill in the seats in a timely manner.

Seraf have created a guide to aid you in evaluating your current board's skills, diversity and experience. From this, you are able to evaluate your potential candidates and see if they are suited to join the board. The template has three key ideas:

1) Experience

2) Skillset

3) Diversity

To use the template, begin by filling out the capabilities of the current board. There are coloured ratings which denote low, medium and high, will help you quickly see where your strengths and weaknesses are. The weaknesses can be used as criteria for the candidates you want to recruit.
