What is Advertising?
Advertising is a tactic in marketing that involves paying for space to promote a product, service, or cause via an openly sponsored and non-personal message. These messages are called advertisements, ‘adverts’ or ‘ads’ for short. The goal of advertising is to reach the target audience, which are the people most likely to be willing to pay for a company's products or services, and encourage them to buy. Advertisements seek to encourage purchases and increase consumption of their product or service via branding, which is when product brand name or image is associated with certain qualities in the minds of consumers. Advertisements that aim to generate an immediate sale are known as direct-response advertising.
Whether you are trying to encourage new customers to buy an existing product/ service or launching a new one, there are many methods of advertising to choose from. The most suitable advertising method for your business depends on your target audience and what the most cost-effective way is in order to reach as many of them as possible.

- Transit, such as ads on buses or taxis.
- Direct mail, along with catalogues, brochures, and leaflets.

- Helps companies to know their competitors, use them as a benchmark and plan accordingly to meet up the level of competition.
- Raises awareness of new and even existing products, ensuring the demand of a product is maintained.
- Builds the brand image of the company and helps to gain customer loyalty.
- Enable customers to be aware of what products are available so they can compare their options.
