How to Quickly Export MYOB data to Excel

How to use the power of power query to easily update your exported MYOB data into excel

  • Step n°1 |

Find the MYOB data you want

First things first. You will need to find the MYOB data you want to be working with. For the example I will be using a P&L statement but any report that can be generated out of MYOB can also work. Once you have the report you want you just need to display the report!

  • Step n°2 |

    Tweak the report settings

Now that the chosen report has been generated there are certain settings that need to be adjusted to future proof this automation.

    1. Go to (insert/Modify) and then click on fields, you want to untick the Report Creation Date. (If this is left on, you will be unable to update your file with new data)

    2. Depending on the MYOB data you have chosen you may want to show additional details. *Must Do
     - Account Number (Optional) - Go to (Insert/Modify) and then click on Show/Hide then click on show Acc Num. I will be showing the account number for my example but it is an optional extra. If you want to search through the data you export i suggest you keep the account number as shown. * Optional

    3. Go to filters then (tick - Include Zero Balances) ticking this again helps in the future proofing of the data especially if you are doing regular data. i.e. Daily, Monthly *Recommended
