Basic Hydraulic Systems and Components Subcourse

Subcourse intended to instruct on the operation and concept of the basic components of the hydraulic system.

Description
This course will also cover the various components of a typical hydraulic system, their functions and construction, and their relation to each other. When we talk about hydraulics in an aircraft setting, we refer to the method of power transmission from one location to another via use of a confined fluid.

In aircraft, the hydraulic systems perform functions such as extending & retracting landing gear, assisting in flight control, operating hoists, positioning flaps, starting engines, and raising and lowering cargo doors.

In Army aircraft, the hydraulic systems used are generally trouble-free and dependable. In comparison to the work required for system performs, the maintenance required for the hydraulic systems is relatively small.

This sub-course is intended for self-study. The lessons should be graded as they are completed using the lesson answer keys provided. If you find that your answer is incorrect, you should study the question reference that is shown on the answer key, to then evaluate all of the possible solutions. This subcourse has no prerequisites; it reflects the doctrine that was current at the time of creation. In your personal situation, it is advised that you always refer to the most recent official publications.

ACTION: From this course, you will be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of the components of the hydraulic system, which includes the devices that discharge, actuate, and control the flow of hydraulic fluid and the devices which control, sense, and limit hydraulic pressure.

CONDITIONS: The student will use the material provided in this subcourse.

STANDARD: To pass the subcourse, you must answer 70% of the exam questions correctly.
