Development Indicators for a typical renewable project (Excel Template)

This template is designed to capture the development impacts of developing energy infrastructure projects.

Description
When you are looking at the appraisal of a project from the economic and development perspective, then you need to go beyond the financial flows you have captured in your financial analysis and your financial model.

The economic or benefit-cost analysis of a project requires an extensive analysis and data collection. The Economic analysis is mainly done by government and development agencies and the aim is to measure the value of a project or service from the development perspective.

If you want to learn more about this subject, i recommend you the book “Cost-Benefit Analysis for Investment Decisions” by Glenn P. Jenkins , Chun-Yan Kuo, and Arnold C. Harberger.

In this template, the aim is not to do a complete economic analysis of a power project. This template is designed to capture the development impacts of developing energy infrastructure projects.

The development impact identified are:
- Number of permanent jobs for women
- Number of temporary jobs
- Government revenue,
- Local linkages and
- Business success.
- Other project specific results can be included in the analysis.
