Hanford Electrical Safety Program Arc Flash Calculator

Arc Flash Calculator to be used only with systems that operate under 1000 volts.

Description
Combining arc flash equations with simplified equations, this excel file will calculate available fault current. If appropriate arc fault clearing times are used, the methods used should provide conservative estimates of fault current resulting in conservative approximations of arc incident energy. In this calculator, an IEEE 1584 equation is used for calculation of fault current.

This is not meant to replace up-to-date fault studies currently available, or replace the support of electrical engineers. It can merely provide assistance for engineers, planners, and POC's when they're performing flash hazard analysis. To ensure the highest possible level of safety, caution and additional use of alternative methods is always necessary.

Consult with an electrical engineer should you wish to perform a flash hazard analysis on systems operating at >1000 volts.
