The Business Model Portfolio
Explanation alongside prototype created to aid companies in vision and management of business model portfolio.
In this trilogy, Yves Pigneur and Alex Osterwalder describe and explain a new concept which will hopefully enable businesses to envision and manage their business model portfolio. It's necessary that businesses have a way of measuring whether their portfolio is in good shape; if their business could be disrupted; and primarily, to aid and encourage businesses to make better decisions regarding investment.
The first part of the trilogy concentrates on management of the current business. Each portfolio begins with looking at the management and improvement of your current businesses. In the prototype, Yves and Alex envision the portfolio of current businesses on 2 axis:
2. Sustainability/Disruption Risk
The second part concentrates on
1. Expected Return
2. Innovation Risk
And the third part concentrates on
3. Implementation & Transformation
