In all honesty, most business plans are dull. Few people have the time to fully read a business plan unless they have already made the decision to fund you and are checking the boxes of due diligence. Experienced professionals and investors know that business plans change and the funding you receive will often change your plan.

Alejandro Cremades explains in his book "The Art of Startup Fundraising" that investors generally spend an average of 3 minutes 44 seconds reviewing pitch decks, and pitch decks generally include no more than 19 slides.

Two types of pitch decks are needed during the fundraising process. One is the version you will send out with all the pertinent information that includes everything you need to have people understand your story and where you are heading. The second is the one used in presentations which will contain illustrative graphics.
