Here Alex sets out a series of mindset realisations that you need to understand in order to control your anxiety, before offering a series of practical tips.
His first mindset realisation is that you do not look as nervous as you feel. Often, people doing presentations feel incredibly nervous, and are made to feel more nervous by the fact that they feel they are giving off the impression of nervousness. Alex shows you the mindset you need to adopt when thinking about this, and realise that you do not look as nervous as you feel.
He then goes on to explain that your nerves don't have to dictate the standard of your presentation. Alex sets out the mindset that you need to adopt, realising that you can still give a great presentation in spite of your nerves.
His third realisation that you need to make is that nerves and excitement are very closely linked. Your should think of your nervousness as excitement.
He then sets out his practical tips:
1. Practice like crazy
2. Focus on audience and message when preparing - work for your outcome
3. Visualise yourself doing it well
By following these tips and pieces of advice, you will be able to present without nerves in a way that engages your audience.
