Network Optimization: How to perform a Greenfield Analysis

This document and toolkit work to enable accurate Greenfield Scenarios, customizable and quick.

Description
“What should our Network look like?” is a common and open-ended question that this tool kit will help answer.
No matter if you are starting a new venture, adding to an existing network or downsizing, answering the “where” of a business question is always valuable. Over time, the introduction of new products, customer movements and changes in a company’s strategy change what the most effective network looks like. Understanding the best way to service customers in the most cost effective way is what Greenfielding helps to do. The process of Greenfielding looks at customer locations, weighted by a factor of demand or cost, and defines the best location(s) to service them from in order to minimize the cost or distance. As you work through the next steps you’ll begin to see that this process is as much an art as it is a science. For example, when looking at a customer distribution network covering thousands of miles, the process might put you in the right region or state but likely won't show you the exact street corner to set your location at. Keep in mind, having jupyter notebooks downloaded is a prerequisite to successfully complete this walk through. I hope you enjoy!
