In the Excel file you will find a model of a Media site (YouTubers, bloggers, influencers, newspaper, radio etc.) business model.

In those model you produce some content (posts, movies, podcasts...) that we call inventory and you use them to earn money. It can be done via sales of ads, branded content, product placement, sponsoring, donations etc.

In the model I use just one revenue stream – the revenue from ads. You can obviously add other revenue streams as well.

I start by modeling the so called inventory for ads (page views, views of videos on YouTube etc.). Then we use the inventory of pages/views to estimate the sales. We assume here the sales of ads that are placed on the page or movie. Later on using this information we try to estimate the Net Margin. To achieve that we estimate the cost of traffic (people visiting our blog or YouTube) as well as costs of selling ads. We also model the fixed costs that we have to pay for in order to estimate the profit of the business. The model can be easily modified by changing the assumptions that are in blue. The model will automatically recalculate the result for the new set of parameters.
