The mental health of the entrepreneur

In this video, I talk about mental health within the entrepreneurship community.

Description
In this video, I talk about mental health within the entrepreneurship community. Because of the stigma around mental health, this is a topic that is not particularly addressed in the entrepreneurship community. I talk about how the social norms in the entrepreneurship community create the need to work long hours and take on additional responsibilities. I discuss how this can have a negative impact on the mind-body connection. Further, the entrepreneurial failure rates, the stress pertaining to runway, the need to pivot, and the stress about growing a business all contribute to mental health challenges for entrepreneurs. In the video, I talk about how, compared to the general public, entrepreneurs are 50% more likely to suffer from a mental health condition. They are two times more likely to suffer from depression, six times more likely to suffer from ADHD, three times more likely to suffer from substance abuse, two times more likely to have suicidal thoughts, ten times more likely to suffer from bipolar disorder, and two times more likely to require psychiatric hospitalization. In the video, I talk about the helpful tools that entrepreneurs can rely upon to address their mental health. In particular, I share my own experiences of burnout and talk about how the integration of mindfulness practices, like meditation, in my daily routine have had a positive impact on my mental health and, also, my productivity.
