Stage 6 (2022) "Layton's Lenders"

Description
Financial Modeling World Cup is an annual competition dedicated to financial modeling with a view of promoting healthy competition and education. FMWC challenges participants through a range of different types of questions. To answer everything correctly and win prizes, it takes a wide spectrum of skills and knowledge related to financial modeling. The competition is structured in a way that each participant accumulates points during the season by participating in as many Stages as they desire. At the end of the season (December), the overall winners are announced and the prize fund is distributed. Additional monthly prize money is distributed to the best performing participants of each stage.


This is an actual case study that was presented to the participants of the Financial Modeling World Cup 2022, Stage 6 (September 2-5).


Case study description:
Your employer, Layton, is setting up an enormous wind farm project in the fictional country of Azran. Your co-worker, Emmy, has already set up a financial model for the project but has recently been promoted and the management of this project has fallen to you. The base case of the model has been set up fully but the sponsors and lenders are not seeing eye-to-eye on the financing structure. Both parties want to explore other metrics and scenarios for the project so they can find more agreeable terms.
