Explainly Quick Tips: Adding Bing Maps to Excel

Use Bing Maps with Excel Data

Description
This is an Explainly Quick Tip! Explainly Quick Tips cover topics that we, at Explainly, consider interesting and helpful while being doable in three minutes or less.

For this Quick Tip, Philip will show you how to use the Bing Maps add-in within Excel to incorporate simple interactive maps into your workbooks to visualize data related to specific locations. View pie charts across real estate locations to indicate occupancy levels, look at bubble charts visualizing relative values and their geographical distribution, or simply plot out addresses and locations of interest.

To replicate this, you will need Excel 2016 or later and access to the Microsoft Store. The Bing Maps add-in is part of the Javascript API library and so should be available for both Mac and Windows versions of Excel.

There are no other requirements for following along with this video.

The video covers this concept in under 3 minutes and the longest (and hardest!) part of actually setting one of the Bing maps up is determining what type of information you would like to visualize.

If you have any tasks that you struggle with or would like to know how to do with Excel, or other tools, send your suggestions to me on Eloquens via message and perhaps you'll be the inspiration for my next quick tip!
