Product AI Strategy Use Cases Matrix Template

A nine-box framework to quickly help Product Managers, CEOs or other executives identify the AI use-cases for their product to prioritize and focus ressources.

Description
With the advent of AI in most systems, legacy systems and products have to consider integrating AI (Artificial Intelligence) in their business model. The value created tomorrow will be done with AI, and businesses not leveraging AI, especially in a pervasive and central way, will see their growsth perspectifs diminish.

Consequently, I decided to create a Product AI Strategy use-cases template, for any product manager, CEO or Chief of Staff to use as to explore the potential avenues where AI can be integrated, to what extent and at what cost.

The expected output of this framework is to help decision makers focus their ressources (financial, talents...) on AI integration use-cases that have the greatest impact on the viability and growth perspectives of their product.

The matrix is a 3x3 matrix (9 combinations or nine-box), on two axis :

🎯 X-Axis : Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model : Minimal, Moderate, Pervasive
🤑 Y-Axis : Cost to implement : High, Moderate, Low

The combination of the X and Y Axis leads to 9 potential outcomes for a product feature linked to AI, represented in the 3x3 matrix on the right hand side of the slide (see screenshot in the cover pictures) :

1️⃣ - PRIORITIZE - LOW (Cost to implement x PERVASIVE (Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model)
2️⃣ - 2nd ANALYSIS FOR PRIORITIZATION (see if cost can be lowered) - MODERATE (Cost to implement) x PERVASIVE (Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model)
3️⃣ - ANALYSE TO BREAK DOWN INTO MVPs to potentially lower cost significantly - HIGH (Cost to implement) x PERVASIVE (Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model)
4️⃣ - 2nd ANALYSIS to see if costs can be lowered further - MODERATE (Cost to implement) x MODERATE (Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model)
5️⃣ - 2nd ANALYSIS FOR PRIORITIZATION - LOW (Cost to implement) x MODERATE (Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model)
6️⃣ - DON’T PRIORITIZE (UNLESS EXCEPTIONS) - HIGH (Cost to implement) x MODERATE (Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model)

7️⃣ - DON’T PRIORITIZE - HIGH (Cost to implement) x MINIMAL (Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model)

8️⃣ - DON’T PRIORITIZE (UNLESS EXCEPTIONS) - MODERATE (Cost to implement) x MINIMAL (Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model)

9️⃣ - QUICK WINS – Do Last - LOW (Cost to implement) x MINIMAL (Extent to which AI is integral to the Business Model)

Each feature can also be labeled in 3 types (Green, red, black).
