Pipe Steel Weight Calculator — kg/m & Total Tonnage, Exact Annulus Method (Free Excel)

Description
A small, honest tool for material take-off and freight estimates. Enter pipe OD, wall thickness, length and number of pieces; pick a material; read weight per metre and total weight in kg and tonnes.
It uses the exact annulus cross-section, A = π/4 × (OD² − ID²), not the thin-wall shortcut — so heavy-wall pipe weights come out right.
Built-in densities: carbon steel, stainless 304/316, ductile iron, aluminium, copper, PVC, HDPE — or enter a custom density.
How to use:
1. Enter OD, wall thickness, length and number of pieces in the blue input cells.
2. Pick a material from the dropdown, or choose Custom and type its density.
3. Read weight per metre, weight per pipe length and total weight for all pieces.
Worked example: 8-inch NPS Schedule 40 carbon steel pipe (219.1 mm OD, 8.18 mm wall, 7,850 kg/m³) gives 42.55 kg/m, or 510.6 kg for one 12 m joint — matching standard pipe weight tables.
