Project Planner (Advanced) – Excel Template

Planning projects is now made quick and simple with the Advanced Project Planner excel template.

Description
With this template you will be able to:

1. Plan Projects Effectively

- Determine if/when projects will be completed
- Estimate the cost of each project
- Prepare the project, resources, and task schedules
- Understand resource utilization
- Identify opportunities to improve project completion rates and resource management

2. Generate automatic scheduling of tasks given the inputs

- Planning is organized at the granular unit of hours
- Instantly create resource, task, and project schedules using Gantt charts
- Schedules are based on Project and Task prioritization
- Resources can work on parallel projects
- Each task can have up to two predecessors (dependencies)
- Tasks begin the day after its predecessors have ended
- Project Start Dates can be restricted (optional)
- Project/Task due dates can be input (optional) to compute completion on time

3. Customize schedules

- Customize company weekends and holidays
- Each resource can have different work hours for each weekday
- Each resource can have personal, partial, or full leave days
- Each resource can have a different cost per hour

This template will automatically schedule your tasks. To generate the schedule on the Gantt chart, simply input: the hours required to complete a task, the recourse assigned to the task, and the resource availability.

Whilst the template can create a schedule automatically, it is possible to control the schedule in the following ways:

- Enter preferred project start date
- Enter preferred task start date
- Prioritize projects to ensure more urgent projects are started/completed first
- Prioritize tasks within a project to ensure more urgent tasks are started/completed first
- Control maximum allocation % of resource to a task, so that a resource can work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Up to 2 predecessors can be assigned for each task to reflect the dependencies

Common business scenarios are handled easily due to the resource availability constraints. These are: resource availability by weekday, resource personal leave in hours, and company holidays and weekends.

The template provides visual cues to show which projects and tasks will not be completed on time, those which will be completed late, and those which will start late. It also gives you direct access to resource utilization information and cost.

From the template you will receive a printable project and resource summary with visual timelines as well as customizable Gantt charts.

The limitations of this template include:

- Up to 30 resources can be included in planning
- Up to 366 days planning period
- Up to 2 predecessors for each task. A task commences the day after its predecessor’s end.
- Default amount is 250 tasks and 50 projects, but this can be easily extended.
