Gantt Chart Maker Excel Template

The Gantt Chart Maker template allows you to create instant Gantt Charts – the most popular method to visualize project schedules.

Description
The Gantt Chart Maker Excel Template contains the following features:

1. It is applicable to projects of any size

Projects can last from a few days to many years. It is possible to create two levels of tasks (Summary tasks and subtasks). Just select ‘Subtask’ in the task type options while entering. Summary Tasks’ dates are automatically calculated based on subtasks and are shown in bold. There are 4 views options: plan, actual, actual vs plan, or current status.

2. Data entry is made simple and easy

All you need to do is:

a) Enter task name
b) Choose task as the subtask if applicable
c) Assign the task to a resource
d) Enter planned start date and duration, and the end date will then be calculated automatically
e) For Actuals, enter change in duration if the plan has changed

Entering dates manually is only required where there is variance. The optional inputs include flagging tasks as milestones, tracking percentage of work complete and tracking additional information on each task using a custom column.

You have the option to use an automatically calculated % of workdays complete or user input. This will be shown on the Gantt Chart in red if it is 0% complete, and green if it is 100%. You may also choose not to show any percentage complete information.

3. Control which tasks are displayed

Choose to hide selected tasks from the Gantt Chart by entering Y in the ‘Remove from Display’ field in the Data entry sheet. You can view the chart on Summary Level, only Milestones or all tasks. You can also choose a specific resource and filter to view just the tasks assigned to that resource.

4. Visualization

Assign each task and resource a color from the 10 available.

5. Output

The chart is print-ready and compatible with PDF.

6. Extension possibilities

52 periods and 40 tasks will be shown simultaneously by default, but this can be extended.

It is possible to extend the chart as needed and the sheet is protected to avoid making unintentional edits. Unprotect it by entering Indzara as the password and make changes.

Please note that task duration is entered in days, not hours. Predecessors are not automatically generated, and automatic scheduling based on resource availability is not available.
