Excel Template: Expense Tracking

Description
This template comes in a downloadable Excel file as well as includes a Google Sheet version. The idea was to make something very easy for anyone to use.

You will enter a list of your unique expense categories, which populates a dropdown selector. In a single database tab, simply enter each expense description, choose the category from the dropdown, enter the date and the amount. This sheet will automatically populate the total expenses by month and by year by category.

There is a budgeting feature so the user can enter their monthly and annual expense budgets and that will be compared against actuals. This is shown in the visualizations as well so it is really digestible and self-explanatory for anyone to understand.

Dynamic filter summaries so you can drill down into expense categories sorted by amount or by date.

Note, the Excel version uses dynamic arrays for the filter drilldown so that will only work if you have Office 365 and are part of the Office Insiders program. If Excel ever pushes dynamic arrays out to the general user, you will not need to be in the 'Office Insiders' program. It is free to join if you like.

You will be suprised at the financial benefits of tracking expenses. It is very important to be in control of this for prudent cash flow management as well as to reduce waste / redundencies that are unnecessary.
